Important WWII material acquired!

In February, Danny Spungen returned from an important acquistion trip in Germany and Czech Republic with Holocaust related materials from the Lodz Ghetto (Poland) and a variety of counterfeit Bank of England notes produced by 142 Jewish inmates of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp (Germany) under the Nazi project, Operation Bernhard.

In Berlin Germany, Mr. Spungen met with Mr. Manfred Schulze who created and published a book on his famous Lodz Ghetto collection.  Why Not Collectibles has taken ownership of the collection and book rights.  Arrangements were made to translate the book from German into English with expectations to publish the book in the USA by the end of 2010.  Also being translated from German to English are about 1,200 exhibition pages, many of which will be moved onto special exhibit pages in English.

During the Berlin meeting it was learned that some of the material in the Manfred collection came from a famous figure in the Lodz Ghetto history, Mr. Nachman Zonabend.  Mr. Zonabend who left Poland after the war also donated a great deal of material in 1948 to the YIVO Institute in New York.    As of this writing, a lot more research will be required!

During the Same trip, Mr. Spungen met with two important survivors of Operation Bernhard.  In Berlin Danny had a special dinner honoring of Mr. Isaak "Jack" Plapler.  A few days later Danny spent a considerable amout of time at the home of Adolf Burger whose book was the basis of the 2007 Oscar award winning movie (foreign films), The Counterfeiters.  Why Not Collectibles has a large accumulation of the counterfeit Operation Bernhard notes which are perfect for Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah gifts.  In fact they are perfect for any gift with the desire to introduce and/or preserve the importance of the Holocaust.
